About Us


Our History

The Slagle Foods stores were founded by Harold and Sue Slagle in 1962. They opened the first store in Davenport in that same year and began operations in LeClaire in 1965. Over the years, they operated up to 5 locations, with the Davenport and LeClaire stores remaining. Sue Slagle passed away on April 17, 2008 with Harold following April 4, 2012. Paul and Lynda Slagle purchased the Davenport store from the Slagle group in 1999 and purchased the LeClaire store following Harold’s death in November 2012.

Slagle Foods in LeClaire and Davenport are owned and operated by Paul and Lynda Slagle and a great dedicated group of employees.

We have always been locally owned and operated. Our Meat department is a cut above all others, featuring Black Angus Beef. We are a full service grocery store including old fashioned carry out service.

Located inside the store is a Subway.

Our Community

LeClaire is a growing community on the banks of the Mississippi River. Our downtown has become a destination for specialty shops and a taste of “New Old Americana” and undergone an extensive update with street scaping. We have been major contributors to the community.  

Most every weekend includes a fun and exciting special event, especially during the holidays!
